Joseph Melnick, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist. He is a couples and family therapist, organizational consultant and author of numerous articles and book chapters on intimacy, ethics and organizational dynamics. Dr. Melnick has worked with couples in his private practice for over twenty years. He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. Currently, he is Co-Chair of the Cape Cod Training Program and a board member of the Gestalt International Study Center. He is Co-Editor of Gestalt Review, a publication that concentrates on the Gestalt approach to clinical, family, group and organizational topics.

In the field of intimate relationships, Dr. Melnick has published articles on a variety of subjects such as family dynamics, jealousy, conflict and contempt, optimism and resiliency, desire, love and commitment, couples development, and strategic versus intimate interactions. He has authored and co-authored numerous book chapters in the area of Gestalt therapy.

After decades of work with couples and for a wide variety of corporations and small businesses, Dr. Melnick has earned an international reputation as a singularly gifted therapist and consultant, and an extraordinary communicator. He travels frequently around the world, conducting workshops and training programs for therapists and counselors.

Dr. Melnick has been married to his wife, Gloria, for 40 years.
